DeLorean Goes Back To The Future

DeLorean Motor has announced plans to build replicas of the famous car from the Back to the Future movies of the 80’s.

DeLorean are planning to make about 300 replicas of the 1982 DeLorean, a car that hasn’t been in production for 34 years. The new DeLoreans are expected to be finished in 2017 with the company expecting to build about four cars per month.

Refurbished DeLoreans cost between approximately €40,000 to €50,000. The replicas will cost closer to €92,000 when they go on sale in 2017.

DeLorean was formed in 1975 by John DeLorean and was made famous by its DeLorean DMC-12 sports car with gull-wing opening doors. In the Back to the Future movies, character ‘Doc Brown’ was able to transform the car so as to travel through time via the flux capacitor. In 1982 the company went bankrupt.

In 1995, mechanic Stephen Wynne started a new company with the DeLorean Motor name. His company now restores the original cars. To ensure the new cars are as close to the original specs as possible, DeLorean will use some existing parts which have spent decades in a warehouse in Belfast! Unfortunately, the cassette player won’t make it into the new model.

DeLorean Motor has confirmed that a new engine (Manufacturer Still Unannounced), should be “considerably more powerful.” The new car will also have bigger wheels, a sturdier braking system, & top-of-the-line shock absorbers.   C
