Professional, fast and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend
I have been a customer of tyreland for years but lately I feel a bit miffed.
Due to the current pricing structure for even the cheapest tyres I've found myself getting much better value from the Oponeo mail order website.
Given a choice , if a similarly priced tyre could be bought from tyreland I would buy it.
For the last few years I've used Winter tyres on my driving wheels, not m+s but the properly marked tyres with the three peaks symbol, I went to the trouble of buying an extra pair of rims so as to be in a position to mount them when the weather conditions dictated.
At all times I've presented these tyres to be mounted on pairs of loose wheels and have been charged anything from €10 to €17.50 per wheel.
Just after the Covid 19 national lockdown was lifted I specially ordered one tyre from Oponeo to match a brand new spare tyre for my wife's Citroen C5. The match , I was unable to source here.
I brought the loose wheel and tyre to the swords branch to be mounted and was quoted, wait for it ; €25.00 ! to mount the one tyre onto the loose wheel.
If tyreland has a real and significant problem with people bringing in their own tyres to be mounted, summer to winters and vice versa, perhaps it's time to look at their pricing structure and then perhaps people will buy locally rather than order online with free delivery in the future.
Match online prices and add to them reasonably and customers will continue to support you.
By spitting the dummy from the pram any time you see a customer coming in with a tyre not bought from tyreland and charging €25 to mount one tyre to a loose wheel you are certainly not establishing yourself as a viable option for tyre purchase in the future ?
Compete on price and you'll have all of my business and that of many more of my taxi driving colleagues, but be aware that we consider the charge of €25 as petulant gouging.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
At no time in the many years of doing business with tyreland was it ever suggested to me by any staff member that there was a premium attached to fitting a tyre to a 17inch wheel. I am happy enough to pay €15 per wheel as previously indicated.
As for your suggestion that I would be unwilling to work on Polish taxi rates ,; I think that is quite subjective, as the price of vehicles, insurance, maintenance , fuel and Tyres is also much cheaper pro rata.
The current economic climate has the taxi business decimated in Ireland with earnings at about a 20% of pre pandemic levels and we still have the NTA verified annual fiixed overheads cost of €11,400 avg. The vast majority of drivers are not trading at the moment as a result. Peripheral industries serving the taxi business are renowned for their ability to continually increase the price for their goods and services in the mistaken belief that taxi drivers make a fortune, conversely our fares are governed by the maximum taxi fare regulations , ie drivers can only charge what is on the meter. We cannot increase our charges no matter what increase in overheads we experience.
Taxi fares are reviewed every two to three years and increases if any tend to be less than 5% when ratified.
I'm relieved to hear that there was only a "special charge" applicable to larger size wheels and this wasn't just a price gouge.
I will continue to support your business at the price point you have mentioned
Many thanks for the reply.
Quick and professional service. Got all four tyres changed in 20 minutes. Would definitely return.
