With the bank holiday Easter Weekend approaching, we urge you to check out your car tyres before setting off on your journey, if you are planning to travel.
The Easter period is one of the busiest times of the year on Irish roads. Check car tyres before you travel Often vehicles are carrying bigger loads as people pack up to go away for the long weekend or for a weeks holidays. Tyres need to be correctly inflated to suit the load you are carrying. Check the owners manual or you may find a little sticker on the insider of the b-pillar or fuel filler flap with the correct tyre pressures for your vehicle.
With new cars now, it is more common that they come with repair kits, space savers and run flat tyres as opposed to spare tyres. If this is the case with your vehicle ensure you are familiar with the relevant tyre maintenance for your car.
When checking tyre pressure, check the tyres for wear, ensure that the tread depth is above 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread.
Tyre related incidents are one of the most common issues for drivers. Avoid spending time on the roadside this Easter break and take a few minutes to do these easy checks. Check out our tyre tips for full details. If you would like to have your tyres checked, call into one of our Tyreland branches.
