The top five players at Qatar 2022 – and what they choose to drive

With the world watching Qatar as the group stages of the 2022 football world cup draw to their conclusion, and we learn which teams have made the cut for the next round, all eyes have been on the biggest names to hit the pitches. With so much talent on display, it’s hard to narrow the names down – but here are who we believe are the five big players to watch, and a look at what they drive.

Lionel Messi

Lionel ‘Leo’ Messi is an Argentine professional footballer who plays his league football as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Argentina national team. Until 2021, he’d spent his entire career with FC Barcelona, which he joined at the age of thirteen. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Messi holds a considerable list of awards and titles – but what does a player of this calibre drive when they are off the pitch?

Although he has plenty of cars to choose from in a collection estimated to be worth over £28 million, which includes a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti as it’s centrepiece, apparently Messi’s preferred vehicle for most of his daily ‘commuting’ is the trusted Range Rover Vogue.

Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappé Lottin is a French professional footballer who plays alongside Messi as a forward for Paris Saint-Germain, along with the France national team. Considered one of the best players in the world, he is renowned for his dribbling abilities, exceptional speed, and finishing.

Kyllian Mbappe surprised his teammates by arriving in a relatively “cheap” VW Touran.

While he is rumoured to own a Ferarri worth almost €500,000, he appears most comfortable driving one of his many Volkswagen cars. His collection includes a Tiguan, a Touareg and a Multivan, all of which he has been seen using regularly.

Yet another Paris Saint-Germain player who is among the world’s greatest Neymar plays his international football for Brazil. He is well known for his incredible displays of style on the pitch – and his vehicle collection reflects this off the pitch!

As one would expect for a footballer of his calibre, he is reported to have a car collection worth several million dollars, including a Porsche, a Masserati and a McLaren. His day-to-day car of choice, however, appears to be a ‘modest’ Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus, which features a 5.2 Litre V10 engine and a 7-speed DCT transmission.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The only male player to have scored in five world cup tournaments, Ronaldo is another player considered to be one of the greatest ever. His impressive tally includes over 1,100 professional career appearances and 800 senior goals for club and country. He is currently a free agent, after his recent departure from Manchester United.

Ronaldo is well known for his multimillion-pound car collection and in particular, his penchant for Bugattis, which form part of a collection that includes some of the world’s rarest and most expensive cars. While he has been known to turn up to Manchester United training in a variety of cars, his go-to vehicle appears to be a £164k Bentley.

Harry Kane

A striker for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, Harry Kane also captains the England national team. Regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, he is Tottenham’s second-highest all-time top goalscorer, England’s second-highest all-time top goalscorer, and the third-highest Premier League all-time top goalscorer. To date, he has scored 51 goals in 77 games for England.

Kane is reported to have a taste for British cars, with a collection that includes models from Jaguar, Bentley and Range Rover. His car of choice appears to be a Jaguar F-Pace, worth $60,000.
